Ball Tack Tester
A ball tack tester, often referred to as a rolling ball tack tester, is a device used to measure the tackiness or stickiness of pressure-sensitive adhesives, such as those found on tapes and labels.
Principle:
A steel ball is released from a designated starting point on an inclined grooved path. The path is set at a specific angle relative to the base of the test platform. Just below the end of this inclined path, a piece of pressure-sensitive tape (with the tacky side facing up) is affixed. As the rolling ball touches down, it achieves maximum velocity and continues rolling over the tacky surface. The adhesive on the tape resists the ball’s motion, causing it to eventually come to a stop. Notably, the shorter the distance the ball travels, the higher the tackiness of the adhesive coating.

Interpretation of Quality
- The measurement is in “mm” of “inch” of distance from touch-down point on the sample.

- 0-100 mm is High – Medium Tack.
- 100 – 200 mm is Medium – Low Tack.
- 200 – 300 mm is Low – Poor Tack.
- Based on your application, you need to find the optimum level of Tackiness desired.
Example : For BOPP Packing Tapes, the ideal tackiness level is seen at 100 – 150 mm. If the tackiness reading is greater than 150 mm (tack is Low), then the Tape will not attach to the carton surface properly or will peel away easily. If the tackiness reading is less than 100 mm (tack is High), then the Tape will attach to the carton surface, but may also slip off due to excess adhesive coating. On the other hand, Adhesive Medical Tapes will need higher tack and they serve a very different application.

Product Warranty
Unless otherwise specified in the description, all products and accessories (excluding consumables and spares) manufactured / sold by us are covered under a standard 12 month warranty period.
The warranty is "Ex-Factory" or "Back-to-Bench", meaning the product or defective part will have to be sent back to us for repair or replacement. To and Fro Freight / Courier charges are to be borne by the buyer. The warranty only covers manufacturing defects and not misuse or any other damages.
