Pouch Compression Tester

$0.00

Pouch Compression Tester is an equipment suitable to evaluate the overall seal integrity of “liquid” or “paste” filled pouches when subjected to external compressive force.

This test is NOT suitable for solid / chunky / powder filled pouches.

The pouch is pressed between 2 platens with increasing force till the pouch ruptures.

The max force required to rupture the pouch is recorded as the Pouch Compression Force or Pouch Compression Strength or Pouch Burst Force.

The Pouch Compression Tester can also be programmed to press the pouch only upto a preset load and hold the force on it for a preset period of time.

Confirms to Canadian Food Inspection Agency Test Methods.  (See section 4.1.2 Static Load Burst Test)

Safety :

Safety Shield Cabinet (Extruded Aluminum Structure) with Interlock

  • A cabinet will enclose the moving part of the machine.
  • All sides of the cabinet will have transparent Acrylic for natural illumination / visibility.
  • The front door will have a magnetic latch and microswitch.
  • Sample can be placed or removed by opening the front safety door.
  • If the door is not closed completely, the machine will NOT START.
  • If someone opens the door in the middle of the test sequence, the machine will stop and reverse automatically.

General Features of Pouch Compression Tester :

Digital model
Heavy duty load cell mounted under the lower platform measures the direct force on the pouch.
Backlit LCD Display
Embedded Push Buttons on control panel.
Peak hold facility for registration of maximum reading.
Auto-calibration facility using 50 / 100 Kg Deadweight
Overload cutoff at max capacity.

Note : Computerised models (P 500/1000/1500 DDX) of Pouch Compression Tester are also available.

This equipment is suitable for :

1) Dynamic Load Test          (Destructive Mode)

Test Type : Press till failure
The sample is compressed until the pouch bursts.

2) Dynamic Load Test          (Non-Destructive Mode)

Test Type : Press till Load Setpoint. Then release.
The sample is compressed only upto the Load setpoint Pre-Determined by the user. If the pouch bursts before the set-point is achieved, this becomes a destructive test. The machine automatically stops on sample failure or when the preset-load is achieved. Whichever is earlier.

3) Static Load Test                (Non-Destructive Mode)

Test Type : Press till Load Setpoint. Hold till Time Setpoint. Then release.
Also known as : Pressure Decay Test
The sample is compressed upto the Load setpoint Pre-Determined by the user. Then, the force is held on the pouch for some time (predetermined by the user). After the times elapses, the machine automatically returns to the original position. If the pouch bursts before the set-point is achieved, this becomes a destructive test. The machine automatically stops on sample failure or when the preset-load-time is achieved. Whichever is earlier.

Note : The Static Load Test is done as per test specifications detailed in point # 4.1.2 of Chapter 4 of the “Flexible Retort Pouch Defects – Identification & Classification” by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Utilities Required for Pouch Compression Tester (To be supplied by the buyer) :

  • Power Supply : 230/110 Volts AC at 50/60 Hz. (Fluctuation Free Power required)
  • Compressed Air supply at 5 – 6 kg/cm2                (Rust, Dirt and Moisture Free Supply)

A suitable FR (Air Filter + Pressure Regulator will be supplied with the machine.

  • 50 / 100 Kg Cast Iron Weights

These weights are required for calibration at the time of installation and then every 6-months for routine calibrations.
